The Ben 10 Alien Force Video Game is the only game that allows players to take command of characters from the 'Alien Force' team to authentically control and experience their adventures. The game begins five years after Ben put away the DNA-scrambling Omnitrix, but now Grandpa Max has gone missing and the planet Earth is in grave danger. Gamers must help Ben take the Omnitrix out of retirement and lead ten different playable characters-including cousin Gwen, enemy-turned-ally Kevin Levin and five of Ben's brand new alien forms - Swampfire, Jet Ray, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey and Big Chill - to utilize their all-new super powers and defeat the intergalactic invaders. Gamers will experience tons of all-new story content and can even adventure as additional alien forms Echo Echo, Chromastone and Goop exclusively with the Nintendo DS version. Gameplay is fast-paced, 3D and action-adventure based, offering an unlimited combo system with puzzles and challenges that will engage players of all levels for hours at a time.
Ben 10 Alien Force The Video Game is the new Ben 10 "beat-em-up" game. It has all the upsides of the last one, Ben 10: Protector of Earth - it is fun and fairly easy to play, it encourages children to solve problems based on the individual abilities of each character, there is great sound, a good story line and something new in each level to keep children excited. Another great feature is that when Ben 10 "runs out of life" he starts again from where he left off so you do not have to go back to the beginning to start again. It also answers one of the criticisms of the last game in that it has more playable characters. You can take control of Ben and his new alien forms Swampfire, Jet Ray, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey and Big Chill to manipulate fire, swim underwater, grow more than 60 feet tall, stick to walls, fly at mach speed, plus lots more! You can also play as Gwen and use her talent to create an energy shield to protect and attack, or use Kevin Levin's ability to absorb materials to create impenetrable body armor, although compared to Ben and his aliens, they are a bit weak.
There are 3 difficulty levels, Easy, Normal or Hero, so the game can be fun and challenging for any age. The Wii's excellent two player co-operative play features again, as in Protector of Earth, where two Bens can play together. This encourages social skills as the players use strategy and team work to cooperatively defeat the villains. The second player can also leave the game without stopping the game for player one so this game is ideal for play between children of different skill levels.
On the downside the gameplay isn't that challenging and some of the fight sequences are repetitive so older children (aged 10 and above) may lose interest quickly. It can also be finished in less than a day by a dedicated, experienced player. But see this as an opportunity for bonding with your young Ben 10 fan by defeating baddies together. They will love immersing themselves in this super-cool alien world and will likely play with it a lot!
